SIMTEST QC180 OIL IS PREHEATED TO 130 DEGREES AND THIS TEMPERATURE IS MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE TEST TO INSURE CONSISTENT VISCOSITY. THE OIL IS FILTERED THREE TIMES, FIRST WITH FILTER MEDIA IN THE OIL CATCH TRAY, SECOND A 5 MICRON FILTER, THIRD A 25 MICRON FILTER. OIL PRESSURE IS RECORDED AND COMPARED TO OUR STANDARDS FOR THE ENGINE TYPE. THE OIL PRESSURE RECORDED ON YOUR INSPECTION ENVELOPE IS METERED FOR CONTROL REASONS AND WILL NOT RELATE TO THE OPERATING OIL PRESSURE ONCE THE ENGINE IS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE.
OIL FLOW THIS TWO STEP PROCESS INDICATES ANY REASON FOR EXCESSIVE INTERNAL OIL LEAKAGE. POSSIBLE CAUSES COULD BE EXCESSIVE BEARING CLEARANCE, LEAKING OR MISSING PLUGS, IMPROPERLY INSTALLED CAM BEARINGS ETC. WE VISUALLY INSPECT FOR EXCESSIVE OIL BLEED OFF AND COMPARE HOT OIL FLOW NUMBERS TO OUR STANDARDS FOR ENGINE TYPE REQUIRED TO ROTATE THE ENGINE AND WATCH FOR TORQUE SPIKES DURING ROTATION. WE COMPARE THE READOUT TO OUR STANDARDS FOR THE ENGINE TYPE. THE LIFTER PLUNGER IS ADJUSTED PROPERLY, THE LIFTER IS FILLED WITH OIL AND HAS BEEN PURGED OF ALL AIR. MECHANICAL VALVE ADJUSTMENTS ARE RESET WITH THE ENGINE ROTATING. LIFTERS ARE CHECKED FOR ROTATION (LIFTERS MUST ROTATE OR THE CAM LOBE WILL GO FLAT). ROCKER ARM OILING IS CONFIRMED. A CRANKING COMPRESSION TEST IS PERFORMED AND THE RESULTS OF THE TEST ARE RECORDED ON YOUR INSPECTION ENVELOPE. A VARIATION OF MORE THAN 10% IS CAUSE FOR REJECTION. ALL TORQUED FASTENERS ON YOUR ENGINE ARE FIRST CHECKED BY THE ASSEMBLY PERSON WHO ASSEMBLES THE ENGINE AND SECOND BY THE QUALITY CONTROL TESTER. ON TORQUE TO YIELD TYPE BOLTS WE DO NOT YIELD THE BOLTS TWICE. |
